Barcelona could look into signing either Antonio Rudiger or Shkodran Mustafi in January, suppose they are unable to negotiate a deal for Eric Garcia.
Garcia was their prime central defensive target last summer, but a deal failed to materialise as they refused to meet the £30m price tag set by Manchester City.
The Blaugrana have since suffered a big blow with Gerard Pique picking up a serious knee injury and that may force them to spend on a replacement.
Garcia continues to remain their preferred option and they are only willing to pay 50 percent of the valuation, given his contract expires next summer.
Should the Cityzens decline to do business, Mundo Deportivo claims they could focus on landing either Rudiger or Mustafi.
Rudiger has fallen out-of-favour with the arrival of Thiago Silva and he has made just one Premier League start for the Blues this season.
Mustafi has suffered a similar situation with the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes and he has yet to make a league start for the Gunners.
Comparing the duo, Mustafi should come on the cheap for the Catalan giants, given his contract expires in just seven months’ time.
Rudiger, on the other hand, has another 19 months left on his Blues deal.
