Thiago Silva will undergo his medical with Chelsea on Thursday before putting pen to paper on an initial one-year contract.
The Brazil international has spent the past eight years at Paris Saint-Germain, but he is set to pursue a fresh challenge after failing to receive a suitable extension.
According to Sky Sports News, the Blues are on course to sign the experienced defender and he will undergo a series of medical tests with the club in the next 48 hours.
The 35-year-old will sign a one-year contract with Frank Lampard‘s side and the deal will include the option for another 12 months, which can be triggered by either side.
Silva is expected to command a starting role on his move to Stamford Bridge and reports claim that Lampard plans to hand him the captain’s armband for the 2020/21 campaign.
Aside from Silva, they are expected to sign Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz and Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell. Former Nice centre-back Malang Sarr could also join them on a free transfer.
