Chelsea have reportedly ended their pursuit of Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan after learning the asking price.
Blues boss Frank Lampard is keen on signing a new shot-stopper this summer after the underwhelming performances of Kepa Arrizabalaga last term.
A recent report from L’Equipe claimed that Maignan is one of the goalkeepers being considered by Lampard to compete with Kepa for the number one role.
However, a deal now appears unlikely to happen with the two clubs far apart in terms of agreeing on the transfer fee for the ex-Paris Saint-Germain graduate.
According to Sky Sports News, Lille have set an asking price of £32m for the goalkeeper, but the Blues are unwilling to pay anything more than £22m for his services.
Hence, they have decided to look elsewhere and it has been recently reported that they could make a move for Manchester United’s Sergio Romero.
The Argentine is set to pursue a fresh challenge away from Old Trafford after playing second fiddle to David de Gea for the past five years. He is valued at around £10m.
