Chelsea are reportedly planning to make a club-record bid to sign Erling Braut Haaland from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The Norwegian has been in exceptional form for Dortmund this term and he has bagged 25 goals and seven assists from only 24 appearances.
He has a £68m release clause on his contract which becomes active in June next year but there are suggestions that he could leave the club earlier.
Dortmund have been financially hampered by the coronavirus pandemic and their burden could become larger, if they miss out on the Champions League.
They are presently six points adrift of the top four in the Bundesliga and need a huge turnaround to qualify for next season’s competition.
Hence, it has been claimed that Dortmund could sell Haaland for a higher fee than his buy-out clause and the Blues are already preparing an offer.
According to Winsports, the Blues are willing to offer as much as £78m as they aim to land Haaland ahead of Manchester City and Barcelona.
Aside from Haaland, the likes of Jadon Sancho and Gio Reyna could also leave Dortmund, suppose the club fail to finish in the top four.
