Chelsea could make a surprise attempt to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan during the summer transfer window.
The Blues are likely to pursue another elite striker this summer and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland is their preferred target.
However, they face stiff competition from the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid while the deal could cost more than £150m.
Hence, the club are likely to look at alternatives and The Telegraph claims that they may look to re-sign their former striker in Lukaku.
The Belgian left Manchester United for Inter a couple of years ago and he has since netted 59 goals across all competitions.
26 of those have come this term where the Nerazzurri are top of the league and on course to lift the Scudetto after 11 years.
Inter don’t have any desire to offload Lukaku this summer and the Blues may need to bid more than £100m to test their resolve.
Aside from the Blues, Manchester City and Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in Belgium’s all-time top scorer.
