Chelsea have yet to hold negotiations with Aston Villa regarding the permanent departure of midfielder Ross Barkley.
The England international joined the Villans on a season-long loan from the Blues last summer and he has proved a quality purchase for them with three goals and one assist from 12 Premier League appearances.
It was recently claimed that the Villans had opened discussions over a permanent move for the attacker, but that does not appear the case, according to Birmingham Live.
The west London giants want to assess Barkley’s performances from now until the end of the campaign before deciding on a suitable asking price for the former Everton man.
The Villans have experienced a superb 2020/21 campaign and they are currently ninth on the table with 32 points, eight adrift of the Champions League spots with two games in hand.
The club were languishing in the relegation places during the backend of last season. They have made a terrific turnaround and are now looking at potential European qualification.
