Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is doubtful to face Everton in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
The Uruguay international played through the opening half of the 9-0 thrashing of Southampton in midweek where he scored a goal.
Following the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that Cavani’s half-time substitution was not tactical and he had suffered a blow to his ankle.
It is now reported that the 34-year-old could be doubtful to face the Toffees and his involvement may be decided by a late fitness test.
The Red Devils ended a two-match winless run in stunning fashion against the Saints and they will be hoping to carry the momentum this weekend.
They have struggled against the Toffees of late with only one win from the last four meetings and can’t anticipate a straightforward game.
Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League standings with 44 points, three behind Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
