Reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United are interested in signing Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona this summer.
The Red Devils have been heavily tipped to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in recent months, but a deal has never materialised due to the hefty £108m price tag.
With less than a week before the transfer deadline, the club are looking at alternative options and Romano claims that they have opened a dialogue with the Blaugrana for Dembele.
The Mancunian giants are aiming to sign the Frenchman on an initial loan deal and it remains to be seen whether they can reach an agreement with the Blaugrana and the player himself.
Dembele has struggled with numerous muscular injuries over the past three years and he has been restricted to less than 80 appearances across all competitions for the Blaugrana.
He has, however, returned fit for the new season and United seem prepared to gamble on him as they look to find a suitable option to strengthen the right-wing department.
