Chelsea manager Frank Lampard could hand the captain’s armband to Thiago Silva once he completes his free transfer to the club.
The Brazil international recently parted ways with Paris Saint-Germain after eight years and he is now on the verge of signing for the Blues.
According to Globo Esporte, Lampard sees Silva as the potential leader of the club’s backline despite the fact that he has entered the final phase of his career.
It is added that the 35-year-old could be named the new captain once his move to the Blues is officially confirmed. He is due to undergo a medical with the club on Thursday.
