Inter Milan have reportedly opened negotiations with Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum over a free transfer this summer.
The Dutchman’s contract with the Reds expires at the end of June and contract talks have reportedly reached a standstill.
The midfielder has requested for a three-year extension with a pay rise, but the Reds are only willing to hand a two-year deal on his current wages.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with his signature and Football Insider recently claimed that they have tabled a contract offer.
It is now reported by Calciomercato that Inter have joined the player’s pursuit and they are set to hold talks with Wijnaldum’s agent.
Should Wijnaldum make the move to San Siro, he could act as a potential replacement for Chilean star Arturo Vidal.
Vidal has made just 11 starts for the Nerazzurri this term and he may head through the exit door this summer.
Aside from Inter and Barcelona, Juventus are another club who are keeping tabs on the midfielder’s situation in Merseyside.
