Liverpool continue to remain strong favourites to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich despite the fresh interest from Arsenal.
The Spain international has under 11 months remaining on his contract at Bayern and he has refused to put pen-to-paper on an extension.
Hence, he is expected to be sold by the club in the coming weeks and Der Spiegel claims that the Reds are in pole position to sign him.
Still, a deal is far from likely at the moment with the Merseyside outfit reluctant to meet the £30m price tag set by the European champions.
Alcantara is eager to work alongside Jurgen Klopp next season and he has already turned down an approach from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Reds are working on a limited budget for the summer and they may have to offload a couple of players to afford Alcantara.
