Former Manchester United star Louis Saha believes the Red Devils need to sign at least four more players of Bruno Fernandes‘ calibre in order to challenge for the Premier League title.
The Red Devils have made another disappointing start to the season and they are already eight points adrift of the top of the table, having played a game less.
Speaking to Stadium Astro, Saha said that the club’s poor form has been down to the recruitment and the club should focus on landing players of Fernandes’ quality to make the difference.
“The focus is on Solskjaer. But you also have to look at the recruitment. Some new signings like Fred, you can see the quality but he’s not going to make the difference. The signing of Fernandes, you need four of them. You need four of them to actually compete and this is what is missing,” He told.
United returned to winning ways before the international break with a hard-fought 3-1 triumph at Everton. They are scheduled to host West Bromwich Albion in a fortnight’s time and should be favourites to pick up all three points.
One of their major concerns has been the central defensive partnership of Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire, which has been inconsistent. It remains to be seen whether a new centre-back is signed at the turn of the year.
