Manchester United goalkeeper to join Brighton?

Romero to Brighton?

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has reportedly emerged as a target for Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Argentine was the Red Devils’ back-up goalkeeper to David de Gea over the past five seasons, but he has been deemed surplus to requirements this term with the emergence of Dean Henderson.

With under six months left on his deal, the club are prepared to offload him this month and Marca claims that the Seagulls are the most likely destination for the 33-year-old.

Graham Potter’s side recently loaned out back-up goalkeeper Mat Ryan to Arsenal and they are now keen on signing a quality replacement, who can compete with Robert Sanchez for the number one role.

Romero has barely played in the Premier League since his arrival from Sampdoria more than five years ago. He has turned out only seven times in the English top-flight for United.

He was linked with a possible move to Boca Juniors earlier last month, but the move broke down due to his wage demands and United wanting a transfer fee.
