Manchester United have identified Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba this summer.
Pogba’s current deal with the Red Devils expires in June 2022 and the club have yet to hold negotiations over a possible renewal.
According to The Sun, the club are likely to consider the Frenchman’s sale this summer, suppose he is reluctant to extend his contract.
It is added that Valverde is one of the top names on their wishlist but he won’t come on the cheap with the £148m release clause on his contract.
Pogba has previously said that he would welcome the prospect of joining Madrid one day, but there are suggestions over a possible swap deal.
United are presently second in the Premier League standings but they are seven points behind Manchester City, who have one game in hand.
They will face Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night and Pogba won’t be available because of a thigh injury.
