Long-serving Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has confirmed that he will be joining Fenerbahce, informing Turkish television that a transfer is to be agreed after a medical. Arsenal excluded Ozil from their Premier League squad this season, and the former Germany international has quickly fallen out of favour at the Emirates.
Ozil had been locked in talks with Fenerbahce for two weeks, and now a deal appears to be agreed.
“I am very excited,” Ozil told NTV Spor. “I have already said many times that I am a Fenerbahce supporter and I’m very happy to be coming to Fenerbahce.
“I’ve been rewarded by god to wear the Fenerbahce shirt and I’ll wear it with pride.
“I have not played a match for some time. I’m physically fit, there are no problems. Tonight I’ll be coming to Istanbul with my family. The flight time is not fixed yet. This evening I should be there. I’m coming to Istanbul tonight for Fenerbahce.”
