Napoli could reportedly focus on signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Arsenal, should they miss out on the services of Gabriel Magalhaes.
The Naples outfit are looking into a new centre-back this summer with Kalidou Koulibaly fancied to leave the club for Manchester City.
So far, the deal has not materialised and that has meant that they have been unable to strike an agreement with Lille for Gabriel.
In the same time, the Gunners have agreed a fee with the French outfit for the defender and they are in the driving seat to sign him.
According to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Gennaro Gattuso‘s side are likely to miss out on Gabriel’s signature unless they can sell Koulibaly in the next few days.
Otherwise, they could target the signing of Sokratis, who is out-of-favour at the Gunners. He is currently valued at around £5m by the north London side.
Elsewhere, Shkodran Mustafi is mentioned as another possible option for the Serie A outfit. However, the German won’t come on the cheap with the Gunners set to demand at least £20m for his sale.
