Sheffield United have confirmed the signing of Ethan Ampadu on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
The Welshman spent the previous season on loan with RB Leipzig, but his time was unsuccessful as he managed just seven appearances in all competitions.
He was recently in action for Wales in the Nations League games against Bulgaria and Finland, where he starred from the central defensive role. He has now signed for the Blades on a temporary basis for the 2020/21 season.
Ampadu is capable of playing in either the holding midfield or central defensive roles, but he could receive more game time in the latter of those positions, given Wilder prefers to play with a back three.
Alongside Ampadu, the Blades announced the arrivals of Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe from Derby County on permanent deals. The club could face a tough second season after exceeding expectations last term with a ninth place finish.
